Default wipers

My wipers are hard to operate, I have to put allot of pressure on it downwards to get them to come on in manual mode and when switching it to the intermittent modes they don't always come on and I have to fiddle with it. Is this common to the 02 freelander or is just mines? Any advice on rectifying it?

More than likely, the wiper switch is bad/switch contacts have too large a gap to transmit electricity through the circuit. It fairly
common and easy to replace. Does it get better when the air temp is warmer and worse when colder?
