Freelander2 jumps standstill to Drive
Hello all, this my first post. We have a Freelander 2 HSE SD4 Auto 12 plate. In a nutshell, in stop start traffic when you lift off the brake pedal (and are in Drive) the car will roll (if on a slope) and then after about a second jolts forwards. It feels like it is shifting very badly from neutral to first gear. It only does it when it has been driven for a while and after a few stop starts. Holding the brake for more than 5 seconds before lifting off brake (transmission in D) seems to be required to make it jolt. Once it starts jolting (feels like you have been hit by a car from behind!) it will continue to do so. Normal gear changes are not affected.
Its been with a Land Rover main dealer for 3 weeks and they have changed the Haldex clutch (to fix another issue and they thought hopefully this too but alas not).
I know a bit about cars...to me its the transmission shifting to Neutral when it shouldn't or the torque converter doing something silly.
Has anyone any suggestions?
Thank you!
John

Hi John, did you ever find out what this issue was? I have exactly the same problem!!! I’ve been ripped of by a garage with this car, already replaced the rear diff and now the front also needs changing and now this!!!
