Default hesitates and improper repair

I am new to this forum and just got a 2003 freelander. It has 148,000 miles and having a few codes pop up which I cleared out. If I left off the gas and give it gas right away it hesitates/chugs for a second then it is fine. Now if I let off the gas and wait about 3 seconds it is fine.

When I took the engine cover off i found this odd thing. Someone used a hose clamp and epoxy to keep this part on. Can someone tell me what it is and do i need to fix it soon? http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/5467/3z3v.jpg

Thanks,
k0Re7

I forgot to tell you that when I traveling down the road and let off the gas the RPM don't just drop. The RPM slow fall till it get below 2000 range in RPM's, then is seems to drop off faster. Is that normal for AWD?

Thanks,

That is apart of the fuel rail. That was a dangerous repair. What was the codes?

The fuel rail needs to be serviced by someone who has experience . I have the same codes. The upper intake has two vis motors that adjust according to how much air- fuel is required for optimal performance . These are prone too fail along with the complete housing. Very expensive. I only run prem fuel and seems too help. But I think I need the upper intake. Goodluck

I also forgot there is a recall for fuel pump and filter change call your local dealer with seral number . Just had mine done and it did help with codes. She runs much smoother also.

It's the vehicle serial number. It should be on the registration and on the door jam. There is allot of information in the numbers. Most importantly it tracks all service done on vehicle at dealer. Also carfax uses this number. Some people call it the vin.Number. Good luck and have a happy and healthy new year.

Here are the two codes that seem to show up the most often when the temp is above 30 degrees. P0172, P1471. Using the prem fuel seems to help a lot keeping the codes away. thanks for that little bit of info.

I am also getting MPG around 12 to 15 is that lower then it should be.

Thanks,
k0Re7

Rovin4life,
That's the question - is there any specific tools that LR mechanics need that an indi mechanic would not have? I am having my LR3 -2007 rear brakes replaced and spark plugs?

Thanks in advance,
Mai
