Default Rear window operating incorrectly

I have an '02 Freelander, and the rear window is not operating correctly.

When I pull the lever to open the rear door, the glass drops correctly. However, when you release the lever, the glass returns upward.

This requires the operator to hold the lever depressed while shutting the door in order to get the glass to clear the trim. Sometimes this can be quite a trick.

Does anyone have a suggestion for where to look? I don't want to just start replacing components.

Thx,
Squid

I am new here with the same problem as multiple folks. The rear window(since batteries been off) will not stay up.If I go to put the window up it reaches the top and then beep beep straight back down.I have used the search facility on here but cannot find an answer.

Please help chaps and hello

Default Fixed it

Stripped the door panel off and the wiring loom clips were being trapped by the window dropping so the glass was not able to drop all the way down
One problem down only another two to deal with then I can use the car.

Had the same problem. Had to replace the cable mechanism at considerable expense - even for one from a wreck.
