Default 1999 Range Rover Head light replacement

Hi,

Can anyone come up with an explanation of why one of my headlights continues to burn out? I just replaced the same one and not an hour later was already burned out. Just a coincidence, or are there any possibilities?

Thanks,
Michael

did you replace the entire assembly or just the bulb? I know from experience that you can't touch the bulbs with your fingers - the oil from your skin will cause the bulb to get extremely hot and burn out.

I only relpaced the bulb, assembly is fine. I didn't touch it and it was wrapped in a static wrap, so couldn't have gotten any oils on it. May have been a mere coinsidence. I have a replacement coming tomorrow and will post only if it burns out the same.

Thanks,
Michael

I had this happen repeatedly on a P38 - finally replaced the fitting under the rubber "boot" that the bulb plugs in to - problem went away.
Not a technical answer by any means but something in there appeared to be getting too warm and shorting the bulb out.
