Default 2003 RR HSE...what to look for.

This one is at my local Nissan dealer. I'm thinking about upgrading my wife's car and this looks nice (obviously way over-priced).

Kalispell, MT 2003 Land Rover Range Rover HSE Used SUV spokane,wa Missoula, MT Green Nissan

I looked for a 'sticky' but didn't see any in this section of the forum.

From what I've read, the ride-height control and trans are two of the major issues. How can I check those out? Being a Nissan dealer they likely don't have service records.

Thanks!

I would look for the 2005 version it has a touch screen and it also should have most of the bugs worked out. The truck your looking at can be found for about 15K.
Look in Los Angeles on Craigslist for better deals

If it breaks, how far to nearest dealer from Whitefish? Complexity of systems is quite a bump from your repaired Disco.

Long ways Savannah and yeah, a big jump!

I went by the stealership and drove it today. It seems like everything works. Drives really well and has a lot of geddy-up! I can't tell if the air-suspension was working or not. It seemed to sit rather high. I tried lowering it and the light illuminated for the low position but a few miles later is back in the center. Normal? I'd like to know where the compressor is so I could hear it run.

They showed me receipts for about a $1400 in repair work done at the dealer. Of course that included normal lube/oil-change and detail, etc. The only real repairs done were replacing two O2 sensors and valve cover gaskets. They also replaced a CV boot. I asked to see any previous service records and they said they were all purged due to privacy issues. If we had a dealer nearby I could probably check with them but I have no idea where it was getting serviced. It is a local trade though.

The biggest disappointment I had with it was all the plastic bits on the interior were peeling color away.

It sure felt like a rocketship after driving the D1 down there! I told them we should trade seeing as they are the same color and all.

I'm waiting for the CarFax now but they have already said they won't come down on the price more than about $500. I was also thinking $15K. Trade-in is only $14K so you know that's probably all they gave (if that).

Do yourself a favor, find a reputable Land Rover mechanic in your area
Have him look over the entire vehicle, read and record all the DTC codes in all the systems.
Clear the codes and drive the vehicle and use all the systems (eas, hdc, hi lo range etc).
Bring it back in and record all the codes again.
Get an estimate or an idea of all the repairs needed then decide how much you are willing to spend on it.
The few hours labor is well worth it to protect your investment, and sanity..
...And remember, a diagnostic check over does not guarantee you any immunity from future problems that may surface..

Vehicle went on 'sale' this weekend for $18,788 and apparently sold. I was on the way down to take another look and let the wife drive it. Probably better off. Thanks anyway! Matt
