2005 RR Questions
I have two quick questions: I am new to the Forum as well as to the RR world. Just bought a 2005 RR and have been very happy with and to date no problems and actually mpg has been better than I had originally thought.
1. I was told by the dealer that I cannot do bluetooth with my RR because the 2005 still used an analog system whereby everything I have read indicates that this is not true to include the owners manual. 2005 went fiber optic. One thing I had noticed was that I don't have a phone cradle that a phone would fit into. In the compartment that housesa cell phone is empty with a connector in the floor of the compartment that must hook to something other than a cell phone. Any advice? If the phone cradle is a seperate accessory can it be bought and where?
2. Even though everyone (J.D. Powers etc.) luvs the DENSO navigation unit I have found it to be a pain .... my VW TDI has a much easier unit to use i.e. hit one botton and you automatically get directions back home from where ever you are at. Is there a quick guide somewhere to making user directions a little easier? The owners manual really is painful.
Thanks.
Walt

I have a 2005 RR and the bluetooth works butthe availability of all of the functions depends on what type of device you want to use. You can also program your home in thenavigational system and all you have to do is hit the house icon on the nav screen toget directionshome. can remeber exactly howI did it but you only have to do it once.I beleive it's in the nav set up screen. took me 5 minutes to figure it out with the manuals.
yes you can get a blue tooth system either aftermarket or stock unit. if you want to go stock unit you will have to be a cell phone module and the telephone cradle (not necessary only if you want to dock your phone to charge) and you will have to run the appropriate cables and tie it into your most network it will kind of pricey sense you have to add the software and buttons to the steering wheel. now i've seen alot of rovers with an aftermarket system call PARROT its basic and works just as good.
Just to let everyone know I did get the Bluetooth option to work with my LG phone and really wasn't as hard as I thought and the navigation which was initially a pain in the arsch after a long trip I got to play and it really is a nice functional units with some quirks but non th eless efficient enough. Each time I get out on the road/off road I luv it more and more.
Has anyone installed the BMW X5 Nav retrofit onto their 2005 Range Rover or installed the BMW BM54 Radio Module to get SIRUS?

I intend to do all of the available upgrades eventually, even though kind of costly.
