Default 93 rover w/ gas + spark = no start

Im working on a 93 V8 range rover for a friend. The mechanic that worked on it before me changed the head gaskets, and after that it wouldnt start. It ran before that. The injectors are getting fuel and electricity. The spark plugs are firing also. I checked the routing on the spark plug wires and everythings fine. One wierd thing is that the battery light in the cabin flashes on, then fades out repeatedly when the key is turned on. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be the problem?

do you know if they removed the distributor to do the head job (I don't think it is required but...)? timing could be way off.

I don't know if they had these on the classics but, could it possibly be the crank sensor?

i will say they did something wrong with the head gasket. get a pressure gage to test the pressure in each cylinder.. sorry i cant explain good in english. but you remove the spark plug and the gage will hook there and you have someone cranck the range.. they should be i beleive 180, 190 on each of them.

good luck

The distributor was removed, and the oil pump too. I think the distributor shaft was removed too. What is the correct alignment of it with respect to TDC? I did try changing the position of the rotor by turning it around 180 degrees, and there is a spot where one cylinder fires, but when I turn the distributor to adjust timing, the cylinder doesnt fire any more. I was thinking it was something with the head gasket install. I thought maybe the pushrods/valve lifters could have been put back wrong. Are they different sizes, or all the same? I will try a compression test too. Also where and what is a crankshaft sensor? Thanks for all the responses guys.
