Default 95 p38 rover fuel pump..

im guessing its the fuel pump that my car wont start. It crank when i try starting it but wont start. and when i spray the starting fluids, its starts for a good 5 seconds then shuts of by itself. Me and dad just keep trying to start it but it wouldnt. Does anybody know the solution why this is happening? my dad saying its the fuel pump and im pretty sure it is. DO i need to replace it with a electric fuel pump or no?

Would suggest that you avoid testing with starting spray. Download the RAVE tech manuls, which should cover yours as well. If it has fuel injection, there should be a schrader valve on the fuel rail somewhere, this allows a pressure guage to be attached (looking for something in the 30 -34 psi as rule of thumb, but check RAVE for your specifics. Could be fuel pump (big $), fuel filter (little $), fuel pressure regulator (modest $).
