The differential shouldn't be making that noise. If you remove the bolts it should come out like this

Once you unbolt the diff you should be able to smack it with a rubber mallet and knock it loose, then it will drop right out.

There is definately something wrong in there so you need to get it out, you may just need to man handle it a little to get it to budge.

I am not sure what could be causing it to stick, have you tried to shine a light down the axle tubes to see what it is?

Does the drivers side fo the diff move out at all? I am afraid to say that you may needto pull and then slam it back in to see if it moves anything. Other then that you may just need to get an air chisel or something major to get it out. Problem with that is you may just destroy the housing in doing so.

With so much stuff off of it already I would start to source a replacement axle from a wrecking yard, it may be cheaper than repairing the diff anyways. Although you being in Hawaii I am not sure how many wrecked Rovers are floating around.

Is yours really that bad? You might check a local wrecker to see if they've got one. There should be a couple places that have RRs, especially after cash for clunkers.

Being in Hawaii I am sure it will be more difficult to find one. I also assume the shipping there would cost an arm and a leg. I am sure there has to be one aorund there somewhere though, it may take some time to find but just keep looking.
