We tested the oil pressure sender. When the engine is on, it
grounds the tester. When the engine is off, the sender is open.
I think the mechanic is satisfied that it has enough oil pressure
to motivate the sender change of state. And it does have
fresh oil in it. We'll look into the plugged pump intake however.

He is NOt a experienced Rover Mechanic. Just a shirt-sleeve tinkerer
trained in military before they had a "throttle-body." And you know
how long that was ago. But...we think it is a wiring issue and not a
pump issue. Just a gut feeling. But thanks for asking. Pete
