I have a 01 Range Rover that has a bad ujoint on the front drive shaft, the dealer wants 1000.00 to replace the shaft.
The ujoint looks replaceable. I would like to remove the shaft to replace the joint.
My question is will the vehicle still be able to drive without the front shaft until I get the shaft fixed?
The dealer said the vehicle will not move, I dont think he is right. right?

If I rememer right, you have the same drive shaft design as the Disco 2 and yes they can be removed and rebuilt using greaseable u-joints. There is a double carbon housing with 2 joints in it and if you have never tackled one let a tranny shop pull and rebild it, should coast under $200.
