Default "Key still in" beeper - how to disconnect?

Anyone?
It's a '99 RR P38, every time I shut the engine down and open the door, the dash says "key still in ignition" or something. And an annoying loud beep that never stops. How can I disconnect the beeper? Thanks. Kevin in Minneapolis.

your problem could be the center of the ignition is not popping out completely when you remove the key.
At least that is what my issue was on my 99 RR, i found that after removing the key if i poked the center on the switch with my finger, it would pop all the way out shut off the warning light.
a couple squirts of silicone solved the problem.
try poking at the center of the ignition switch or removing the key slowly with pressure to see if it shut the warning light off.

I used powdered Graphite . Made everything in the ignition switch run smoother

You can re-configure the BeCM of the P38 to not enable the key in warning.

Default "Key in" beeper mystery solved ...

Thanks for all the tips.
Sure enough, when key is removed, I can push / release the lock with my fingertip and it comes all the way out. Thanks all, KO>
