New 2013 Range Rover review
Hello Range Rover enthusiasts.
My name is Richard and I write for an automotive site called MotorTorque and our video team recently reviewed the new 2013 Range Rover. But seen as though we are still in the learning process, we thought we would ask around for some advice on our reviews.
So, if you could spare 5 mins or so to give our review a watch and let us know what you think, we would really appreciate it.
Thank you.

Slick! 37.7 mpg??? Wish we had diesels in the US.
From a market presentation stand point, don't forget that motivations to invest in such a vehicle include protection for wife and children, and carrying the same plus dogs on outings. So including pictures of women driving, kids enjoying, etc., all help push people toward that big decision to stop by the dealer for a look. And including shots of the vehicle in the kinds of areas frequented by persons with the income to purchase is also a plus.

Nice review. If I had 100k kicking around I'd buy one! I'm not sure of your target market audience but you will probably find that more people on this site are off-road enthusiasts and might be more interested in it's capibilities off road, most of the terrain you showed was just basic stuff that any 2 wheel drive vehicle could do. But, aside from some of the rover forums, most of the people buying these are probably more interested in hauling the wife and kids around as Savannah Buzz mentioned so this type of review is great for them.
Many of the Road Warrior Kings want their queen to be well protected while he is safe on the 20th floor of the Hilton three time zones away. And who doesn't like the idea of having a way to take the family to real places in the wild. But obviously it is a sophisticated vehicle that looks good when pulled up to the theater or the golf course. And it does look better than a Mercedes G63 AMG, which is a boxy short bus with 536 Hp engine, starting around $135K.... fancy four wheeling gets into serious pocket change.

I find it funny that at 3:50, they demonstrate the TV and it shows a terrorist attack in syria.

Hi Rich
Pretty video, nice exterior shots of the car... but your review just goes over old ground. Clearly you love the car, (as I do), but there is no detailed subjective analysis or criticisms. Its all very scripted. I can read everything you have said on the Land Rover website. The 420KG that everyone is banging on about isn't very accurate as this would be for the most basic version...the panoramic roof option weighs over 50kg for instance. Not that weight saving isn't a good thing. What would be more interesting would be to know how a similarly specced previous model would compare on weight with a current similarly specced model, or how the V6 compares with the V8 on the weight saving front/difference in everyday driving/overtaking/crawling up a muddy bank.
For great reviews, take a look at Harry Metcalfe in Morocco on video, or read Clarkson in the Times these are people that have owned RR's and are in the market for a new one. I also like Henry Catchpole and Chris Harris as reviewers as they both have very unscripted subjective viewpoints which are generally original and interesting to listen to.
I would have liked to have a more detailed interior video of the car, focussing on leather details, what extras your car had (type of headlining finish in your car)...maybe how well the satnav works compared with the latest Mercedes S class/Audi/Porsche sat nav. How it rides on road,(especially motorway), compared to these cars also. Of interest to me would be rear seating space, how the seats fold, (presumably flat?), access in and out, (is a side step useful for getting your elderly mother in the car for a ride!). I would also like to know the real world range of the car for long distance driving. Even while you had the car, what was the computer MPG for your offroading/general driving. This is something I can't read on a website. We all know official MPG figures are a joke.
How did you find the size of the car driving down narrow lanes, with on coming traffic? Does the height of the car given you the confidence to thread through narrow gaps, do you feel the extra girth compared to the previous model. Can you see yourself parking it in a multi storey car park or driving it through a congested city centre comfortably.
There is no subjectiveness to your review other than its a lovely car, very luxurious, looks lovely. All a bit vague. How about 'the V8 diesel has a 105 litre fuel tank, shame the V6 makes do with a 85litre tank...think what the range would be if the V6 had a 105 litre tank for cross euro trips!', or mention about how the company might have overcome current reliability problems, (take a look at landroverhell.com), or talk about how there is an option for 19inch wheels suitable for snow chains and perhaps with a bigger side wall better on road ride and better off road....mention the all weather tyres (what are the brand).
If I were going into car journalism, I would be forensically examining cars I was reviewing, as I do when buying a car personally. How they will be to live with day to day. How they compare to the competition, especially practical matters of size, especially width.....driving on congested roads/getting in and out of hotel car parks etc...makes a car less practical the wider it is, (currently the fashion of wider the better seems to be in vogue).
Anyway, just a few of my personal thoughts. I am seriously considering this car and the above are my concerns/interests. Love how luxurious it is and how modern it looks.
Good luck and feel free to ignore my ramblings!
