Default Wheel Bearing

Hi to you all.
A new member to the forum hear and already have a question so this will show how good this site is lol.

I am now the happy owner of a 1996 P registered Range Rover 2.5 DT & loveing every second of driveing her BUT..........

I need to replace the drivers side FRONT WHEEL BEARING which i got with the Range Rover.

Question is.....Im of the understanding that the bearing has to be pressed in and cant be done by a weekend d.i.y mechanic like myself SO i went to get a price and the local mechanic told me that he could not give a price untill it was stripped down AS IT MAY BE A WHEEL BEARING AND HUB COMBINED

But as i said i have a wheel bearing so could it be wrong and i need to buy the wheel bearing and a hub assembly together????

All info on this matter will gladly be taken on board AND ALSO what kind of price to be looking out for.
Many thanks.
Tony.

Take the hub and wheel bearing assembly to the mechanic. They will be able to tell you if the hub is salvageable, if so they can press a new one in. If not, then buy a new/used hub as a replacement. They will usually (almost always) come with a bearing already pressed in.
