1996 landrover disco stuck in neutral
I just purchased a used 96 Land Rover Disco SE7 from a Charity Auction. Had no idea of it's condition only that the engine would run. Got in it and found out it would go into gear but not move and the transfer case was frozen in neutral. So I got it towed home. Also when switch is on flashers are on and flashing on the dash and there's a check engine lite -I checked the code and it was p01317 unknown what that means. I got under it a I can turn each driveshaft by hand but the wheels themselves dont move. Could some one help and advise me if I need a transmission or transfer case replacement. It's great looking unit with only 115k on it.
Thanks for all the advise and help guys. You guys were right on the money. I've got my discoduck moving. She had frozen and rusty rods on the transfer case. I lubed them down for three days and kept working unitl they freed up and she poped into hi gear. Now I just gotta do brakes and find out why the dash flashers ae on and the alarm lite is flashing......any advise on those items I would truely appreciate it.
