Default 2001 Discovery Cooling System

Happy New Year All.
I have just acquired a 2001 Discovery, and trying to learn the quirks of this vehicle. I had to replace an upper radiator hose, I refilled the coolant reservoir, no heat, before I replace the Thermostat, does the system need bled, if so how?

Yes. Download rave.
Raise and open reservoir, cold engine, truck on incline helps, open bleed screw, bubbles out

Repeat

To clarify -

The RAVE is the service manual. Available here but called the Workshop Manual on that website.

when you bleed it raise the recovery tank 6-8 inches keep it filled, and do not close the bleeder at the first sign of coolant leave it open for a minute or two

couple of other possibilities;
clogged heater core
poor circulation from partially gummed up radiator

do you hear a trickle/waterfall sound from the heater core? air
