i recently purchased a 2001 land rover discovery 2 se7 ( whats the se7 part of it? ) from a dealership. took it up the logging road to the hot springs and got stuck / stopped on some ice. coming down the icey road i noticed that my ABS Does in fact work and has worked every time i applied the brakes when it was needed.

My problem is that the traction control does not work despite working abs

down hill decent i dont think is working, i tried it twice, i pushed the button the truck beeped 3 times and i started the downhill decent. slowly tried to take my foot off the brake but the truck accelerated so i put my foot right back on the brake to stop myself from speeding out of control.

i've tried looking this up online but everything keeps taking me to the shuttle valve for the three amigo's abs/tc/hdc but i Dont think this is the problem as my abs is actually working

there are no dash lights on for any of the above. the service engine light is on and the dealership told me they scanned it and it was only for a emissions control thing in the exhaust.

Oh one more thing i noticed .. when i was stuck / stopped on the ice i couldnt get either of the rear tires to spin despite bieng on ice. even with quite alot of throttle only one of the front tires would spin at a time.

i've never worked with TC before i've only ever had locking diffs and i have no idea where to start.

DHD i believe the transfer case has to be in low range

 

You can get some errors that just disable traction control, like if the PWM signal from the ECM to the SLABS computer isn't working, the SLABS won't know the TPS percentage and it's required for traction control to work. You'll need a scanner that can read the SLABS error codes.
