Default 2002 Freelander Key Replacement

Hello everyone.

I will try to keep this brief, because i am pressed for time.
I lost the keys to my freelander, both of them, the one that opens the car,and the one that turns it on.

Does anybody know of someone who makes key replacements, or at least how much it would cost to replace the keys?
will i need to buy a new gas cap too?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Only the dealer can make you a new key, you will need to take the VIN# to the dealer and they can cut you a key, but you will also need some sort of proof that YOU are the owner.
If you have a locking gas cap then you are totally screwed because I have no idea how you would take the locked gas cap off without the key.

you will not need to buy a new gas cap if its all the same numbers for the lock. but chances are its got to be taken to the dealer by tow truck if the keys you purchase from the dealer need to be programmed. Most freelander keys do.

I hope you got that sorted out after a year, anyway. i don't believe that the dealer is the only option for a car key replacement. you can call a locksmith, they are cheaper and faster than the dealer. i can tell, because that is what i did when i lost my car keys last year. i was with my family in Cambridge for holidays at my friend's house, so after dinner and two bottles of Sagrantino red wine we decided to have a walk and i still don't know how, but i lost my keys somewhere in Jesus green park. too much wine i guess. anyway we got back to my friend's place and after a quick research on google we found this site Car Key Specialist Index | carkeyadvice.com where we were able to find a locksmith in that area. luckily he was able to come after two hours. i paid £240 for a new remote key to my discovery 1998.
