2008 Range Rover HSE...whining noise from engine???

Hello, I have a whining noise coming from my engine. It has been happening for the last week or so...Im thinking idler pulley or alternator. Is there a way to tell the difference?

Remove the belt.
Spin each by hand.
They should be smooth with no sound.

Hello,
I removed the belt and both pulley and alternator spin smooth. Any ideas?
