2012 LR4 originated in Canada odometer
I'm looking to buy my first LR after admiring them for years. I've found one at the local LR dealer and the odometer reads 42k which is a bit higher than I would like. Through texts the sales guy mentioned that he had learned that the truck had originated in Canada and "most likely" the odometer was still in kilometers. My questions are:
What are the chances this is true? Is there a way to switch from km to miles?...I've read it may only be possible to go from miles to kms. What are the warranty implications?
FYI. I did an initial vin search and it did come back as a canada car.
Any help is appreciated!

Make him work for his dosh and tell him you want written verifications not 'off the cuff' guesses after all YOU are the customer.
PS ask him to scan the service book data and e-mail it to you which will state the services and whether kms or miles.

Two things that might help you... I work in a new car dealer in Canada (used car manager) and here is what we look for.
1. If it's a Canadian car, regardless of brand the vin plate inside the drivers door frame or driver door will have the logo of a Maple leaf.
2. Order a carproof report not carfax as it will have all the Canadian Km readings at times of emission checks and or registration renuals. It will also show km's when the car was reported at auction and Km's at service facility that report Km's. It will also report accidents and the Km's at time of insurance claims. Good thing about car proof is that it will also show all the usa info that carfax shows but probably more detail for Canada.
If there are inconsistency's in the Km's on the report then it might indicate tampering and or if it already been converted to miles.
