2017 Discovery pulls / tracks to the right
Well, it is good to hear that they are going to replace the vehicle. Hopefully this will resolve the issue and you have years of happy motoring ahead of you. My curiosity and nerdiness wants to know what happens to the bad vehicle. It would be an interesting story to be able to say that because of you there was a TSB issues or some other manufacturing change done. If this is a wide spread issue (you said other vehicles at the dealer had the issue) hopefully they get the bad vehicle to Land Rover for the engineers to look at further and not just resell it.
Hello, I also have a 2017 Discovery HSE TDV6, No lane assist, No air suspension. It was steering fine until it was about time for new tires. (OEM tire was the Good Year Eagle 255/55 Asymmetric SUV).
Vehicle was nearing 40K miles and I noticed a sudden change in handling pulling to the right. The original tires were nearing end of life so I started preparing to replace them.
Air pressure all normal.
First - I replaced all rotors and pads to be sure not a break drag issue. (Drilled and Slotted with Ceramic Pads). Vehicle still pulled right.
Second - Took vehicle in to Firestone for an Alignment as dealer is 1.5 hours away. First Alignment was no help so I took it back to firestone for second alignment attempt. It was a bit better but still pulled right.
Third - I took it to the dealer in San Antonio. I had all tires replaced with same Goodyear Asymmetric SUV tires and fresh alignment, Same issue pulling right.
Forth - Back to dealer for forth alignment and left it overnight. Same issue pulling right.
Fifth - Back to dealer 12/4/2019. Left vehicle again after long discussion with Service manager and the tech doing the alignments.
They are currently checking if Hunter alignment machine is pulling the correct alignment data for Coil Spring Suspensions (There are not very many 2017 Coil Spring Suspension versions produced).
So now in waiting mode as they agree it pulls right, and its abnormal.
I bought the Land Rover Discovery LR5 Factory manual to compare alignment specs for Coil Spring Suspension, Cast, Camber and Toe to whats being printed on the alignment printout. The Hunter Hawkeye printout min/max values appear to agree with the Service manual for Coil Springs. The air suspension specs are different and are NOT showing up any any of the alignment reports.
If anyone has ran across this issue on a 2017 HSE TDV6 that was taken back by any Land Rover Dealership I would be interested in talking with you about which dealer, and what VIN number.
Best,
John
