I know what it means... (fwiw)
Let me re-phrase that..
Dealer Tech @Land Rover Manhatten?
Is he a better tech at British Auto Works??
FWIW.

no he is a tech at LR Larchmont. im not saying he worked at Manhatten and could do a better job then the person who worked on this lady's truck. I was simply pointing out the fact that everyone was tearing into the dealer tech's and then saying how great BX auto works. I was simply clarifying that Carlos who runs BX auto works is a dealer tech for those who don't know.

Wow.. 6 Grand is probably more than what the truck is worth...

Hope you get it properly resolved...

Being you, A woman who doesn't want to pull the heads and what not herself, I would have sold the truck to someone who could have taken care of her properly and bought somthing else... You're into it for too much now...

Kind of have to keep it for spite....

Good luck

John

I don't trust dealerships for anything. I've heard way too many horror stories. You need to find a reputable independent guy from now on OP. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Ever since the "mechanic" at the Charlotte dealership told me over the phone that DII heater cores don't have o-rings and disputed it with me when I had my heater core apart right in front of my face I will never trust them or go to them for anything other than immediate parts.

In the mean time you should consider reading over the various sticky threads on the forum and read up on your truck. Even occasionally stopping by and reading current threads may help you with a problem you could come across in the future. You might even get comfortable enough to make some of your own repairs. If not that's fine, but you can still be acquainted with your truck enough to diagnose some problems. That combined with this forum will keep your from ever experience this kind of BS again.

If head gasket, about $300 in parts, $200 maybe for machine shop, and two weekends of wrench work. If indy shop, 12 - 15 hours of labor added. Dealer - forgetaboutit.
