yes most likely......originally the distributor had a "dummy" amp module attached to it as a wiring connector only, and the the wire harness from that went to the actual module mounted on the ign coil bracket

Thank you everyone for all the help. I managed to solve the problem by buying a stock '00 D2 with 76k miles. I am transferring the lockers, air, winch, etc.
