I recently purchased a 97 Discovery XD in need of a donor automatic transmission and rear driveshaft after the previous owner apparently had a catastropic trans u-joint failure trashing the automatic transmission case and rear driveshaft . After reading a few threads about this issue it must be typical with hot, dry u-joint bearings. Will any other year series 1 Discovery automatic transmission and rear driveshaft interchange with a 97 when I call salvage yards looking for an automatic transmission and drive shaft?
