97 land rover tranny wont engage
I have a 1997 LR. It was run without oil, the engine locked while running 25-30 mph. It placed in nuetral and pushed to the curb. Later, it was pulled 10 miles and sat for 5 months. I then pulled it another 10 miles to the mechanic shop. I located a compatible engine and the motor was swapped. NOW , the transmission won't engage in any gear. I called the dealer and was told that the torque converter would not be the issue because it will only bolt one way to the motor, match the 4 bolts. I don't know if the sudden halt at 25_30 mph would damage the inside clutches of the tranny. Or if the problem resulted from pulling it 20 miles in nuetral. I was also told that because it had been sitting, that the transmission has to pressurize in order to engage. ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY REMEDIeS TO THIS PROBLEM! PLEASE ADVISE.
