Default AC help

On my 1998 Discovery I, my AC compressor will not engage via the ac controls. If i hard wire 12volts positive and a ground wire directly to the compressor, it will engage, and i have ice cold ac. i tried to jumper the high pressure side sensor to see if it was bad. no luck.

All fuses checked OK

Is there a relay in-line, or could my climate control unit be faulty? i have the manual **** controls not digital.

Any ideas would be great! Its hot here in Texas.

I'd bet your AC/Snowflake button is faulty.

I have owned 3 D1s that had bad switches. Changed them out and it worked like a charm.

I have a feeling that you are right. Can I replace just those switches or do I need to replace the whole unit? Is there a how to on removing that dash piece? It's super brittle I don't want to break it.....

You can replace just the snow flake switch.

Check RAVE manual for instructions.

If that is not clear, PM me your number and a good time to call, I can walk you through it.

I might have good one. I will get back to you in a few days. Be careful when buying used. I would say 50% of the switches I have come across don't work. It would be bad to tear the whole dash apart and install the switch only to see it doesn't work.

Haha yes that would be horrible. ESPECIALLY since lots of this plastic is brittle. If you had a good one you could send that would be super cool!
