Default Air bag fault

Hi Guys
My 98 RR has had the srs light on for about a year now,I have checked evrey connection and even replaced the modual with a known good one and no luck.
The cruise does not work and there is an aftermarket radio so the steering wheel controls won't work anyway but the horn does work.Could my problem be the rotory coupling and is there a way to test it? PS there were no side air bags in 98 so an I correct in assuming no seat connections either?

The SRS system has an independent ECU, so you may need an advance shop or dealer to look at it with something more than your scanner. The rotary coupler could be checked, but your problem may be somewhere else. As an example, you could unplug cruise control module, and meter the inputs from the buttons, to see if they are changing when pressed (easier than taking apart rotary coupler) -

Clean the seatbelt latches, bolt sides.
There are sensors inside that get dirty and can set off the SRS warning lamp.
Clean them by buckling/unbuckling them several times.

pull up the front seats pull the wiring out from underneath the carpet to get a bit of less tension on the wiring harness to the seats. They have been known to cause issue. basically two inches of wiring would have fixed the issue a long time ago.
