Default Amber Check Engine Light

I just drove my 2005 Range Rover 1,000 miles. When I reached my destination, I shut off the car and came back in 45 minutes. When I restarted the car, the amber check engine light when on. I shut of and restarted several times with no change. I am a very long way from the closest LandRover agency. The vehicle has 59K miles on it.

Should I try to find a reputable local mechanic and see if they can fix it? Can the local mechanic interface with a Range Rover Service Department

Should I have it towed to the closest Range Rover agency....very expensive?

I need to drive back to my home location next Friday.

Any suggestons or guidance will be very much appreciated.

if it runs correctly and doesn't overheat then wait till you get home and then bring it to the dealer. Its possible it may have a problem covered under a recall. And no the local guy can't interface with our dealer service. All he can do is order parts from us. We don't give out information so the other guy can make the money.

Default Amber Light and Trasmission Fault Message

Thanks for your reply.

In addition to the Amber light icon, when I start the car, I get a scrolling message: HDC Fault System Not Available...Trasmission Fault Traction Reduced...Special Programs off.

They then scroll off and do not reappear except for the Amber light.

Might be a leaking radiator and or a stuffed up radiator causing an issue.
