Amp meter- showing 30+ amps
Hi there,
Ive just put in a new coil, codenser and points.
When i now start the car, the amp meter now shows 30+ amps.
I appreciate i havent yet set the timing, but can anyone assist and shed some light.
I took a photo before i replaced the coil, and have two conections on one side of the coil and the other side has a single connector which then connects through to the codenser in the distributor cap.
many thanks for any advice

I guess if you have truck key on, but not running, the amp gauge would be negative. If you disconnect coil and condenser, that may move a lot closer to zero (center). A bad condenser could do this, depending on where it is hooked up.
You have no idea how much drool would be produced if you posted photos.
BTW, your golfer looks great in a green jacket. First time the Master's was won by an Aussie. I actually played that course the first time I took up golf. Shot a 72. Got so damn excited I could not play the second hole!

Is your battery fully charged? Your generator could be putting out 30a trying to charge the battery.
Also, be careful which wiring diagram you use. Land Rovers were positive earth until '67. Yours may or may not have been switched to negative earth.
Also, a '65 would be a IIa.
