Default Anyone know what should go here? Won't idle.

Hi All,
I've got a 98 Disco that won't maintain an idle. I looked at the intake/throttle body and there seems to be something missing from the top (see attached image). Anyone know what should go there and how hard it is to replace?
Thanks,
Dennis

that's a factory cap over your BASE IDLE ADJ. SCREW - not advised to mess with unless you want to end up at the dealer - honest.

What do you mean it won't idle?

directly below that is a small electric motor (little round black) commomly called stepper mtr or IAC
If your trunk idles way too fast sometimes, AND if your mechanically inclined, you can clean that (it controls your idle thru the engine computer)

do a search on --cleaning stepper motor, or cleaning IAC

I did my '97 runs great now

luck,greg

So, I guess nothings missing? Looked to me like something should have been there (i.e. it is cleaner than the rest of the engine).

The truck won't idle. If I let off the gas, the engine dies. It will restart, but it won't maintain an idle.

Sounds like you possibly have a vacuum line that is broken/disconnected. I've run into that with other vehicles.
