Default Can't fix leaking Power Steering.

After buying my '04 Disco, It started pouring power steering fluid (leaves an actual puddle when parked overnight). I power washed the engine compartment and found it leaking from where the reservoir hose connects to the pump. I've since replaced both the pump and the hose. and it's STILL Leaking.

I'm basically certain that that's exactly where it's leaking from. but after replacing the hose, and the pump (remanufactured). Why, and from where, could it still be leaking from?

EDIT: I've confirmed it's leaking from the brand new PS fluid reservoir hose (where it connects to the pump). the hose appears to be a bit oversized. Is this sizing normal? or do I just need to jimmy-rig my own hose?

Thanks for your help.

there's an o ring on the end of the hose....was it there when you installed the new hose?

Well there is an O-ring on the hose with the metal tip (the one that threads into the pump) but it seems to be leaking from the other rubber hose that leads to the pump (Held on with a new clamp, And I don't think it takes an O-ring. right?)

Unless my new (remanufactured) Powersteering pump gasket is bad, then where else could it be leaking from that soils that part of the pump (while the car sits in the off position) and drains the PS fluid reservoir?

Is there any explanation OTHER than a bad PS Pump?

This is mattmo78's image of his PS leak, but it shows the same thing as mine (View from the underside of the car, looking up at the PS Pump and the Leaking Rubber hose)

There are 2 hoses that connect to the PS pump, one has a O-ring and metal threads, the other is just a rubber hose with a clamp.

After cleaning it off again today, I sat and watched the fluid begin to drip out the end of the brand new rubber hose (not the O-ring hose). It's clear that the both the original hose and the new one that I just bought seem to be a bit too large for the fitting on the pump (after clamping the hose down, the hose end seems to flare outwards, leaving a gap between the inner diameter of the hose and the pump fitting)

The new hose is specific to this vehicle and that application (Purchased here), plus the original Hose seems to be oversized as well. Is this sizing normal? or do I just need to jimmy-rig my own hose?

well anything's possible, i've replaced a few of these on my own stuff and not had a leaking issue like that....possibly you can tighten the clamp some more ? is there room for a double clamp ?........If it still leaks I would try a hose from another supplier

Maybe try a slighter smaller diameter hose and warm it up in hot water to help get the hose on.

I used that same hose to do mine. Do you have the hose ends in the right direction? IIRC, that hose is rather flexible, and you could possibly make it work either way if you tried hard, just an idea.

clamp on the ridge, not the valley of the fitting
