Default Centering Ball help..almost done

Im in the middle of the front driveshaft rebuild and ran into an issue.

New centering ball kit is in but the (dust shield/metal cap with rubber gasket in the middle) will not stay in. Precision 617 is the kit I went with. Any tip/tricks on making this seal stay in? Hopfully everything with the install is correct so far. Just can't make it stay. Thanks for any help. I'm taking a break and going to bed.
