Question Check engine light

I have a 2000 Discovery II - engine light won't go off. Code P0440 = evaporative emission problem appears on the scanner. As far as I can tell the gas cap is full on. Any ideas??

First, a check engine light just never goes off on it's own, need to fix the problem first.
The 440 code is quite vage and be anything from the gas cap all the way through the evap system and needs to beec checked by an experienced mechanic.

I have that error before but mine was solve by tightening the gas cap. The guy from the gasoline station forgot to tighten my gas cap. For you, you should check all the way to the evap system and let somebody scanned it for you again. You might get another code.
