Cranking but no start. Need help😫
Okay me and my dad have been working on our 2001 D2 TD5 for 2 days now because she just randomly stopped working. We had the clutch done about 2 months ago now and it was running smoothly then all of a sudden it cut out on us. We thought it was todo with the ECU/ECM whatever you want to call it due to the fact that sometimes in the past 3-4 years that we've had the car when we used to unplug the red plug there would be traces of oil there and we'd clean it out and all will be fine. But recently the past few months theres been minimal to no oil build up on that red plug and after waiting and wire wiggling the car would start back up again. Now we've done as much research as we possibly can but we're both dislexic (as you can probably tell) so we are very limited on the capability of doing google searches etc...
Now what we've gathered so far is that the main causes for the engine to crank but not start is one of the following, ethier a Fuel Pump problem, Crank Position Sensor problem or an ECU/ECM fualt. We've tested the Fuel Pump (thats including the relay and fuse) and all is in working order even the Crank Position Sensor is in working order its a little warn from the look of it but the tests come back as it's fine. Now we've not tested the ECU/ECM due to the fact that we don't know how to 😅 now out of all this the only discrepancy we can find is that when we turn the ignition to position 2 the Fuel Pump will not activate even though the wiring from the relay to the pump and the relay is all fine and in working order, although we cannot find a feed coming from the ECU/ECM to the Fuel Pump relay.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask and any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to vehicles so I apologise if I've missed anything obvious 😂
