Did anyone ever figure out the radio ?
This truck has a PU-9887A / AMR 2672 radio that will not take the code. has anyone figured out why ? I have seen so many forums talking about this problem but it seems that they are all dead ends. If they figure it out they just stop and never tell just what they did to get working. If you didn't figure it out and know of a replacement that works off the steering wheel please let me know.
pretty much any decent head unit will work with the steering wheel controls, you just have to buy a $70-100 adapter and wire it in. i didnt bother hooking mine up bc the buttons are in such an awkward place anyway.
I forget where you got the code from. Was it on a card in the truck or did you get it by calling the dealer? The reason the code is not working could be because the radio is not the original that came from the factory. You may need to pull the radio out, get the serial number and call the dealer with your VIN and the serial number. I can't tell you how many times I get trucks in with radios that won't accept the code. A quick call to the dealer will help you get the right code.
I pulled the radio and engraved in the box labeled customer complaint was 3532. I went to the dealer for a new key and they gave me a print out that not only had the same code but contained every thing back to the original owner's name and the dealer in southern Ca. that sold it. Very different from what car fax sent me. I tried a place on line called radio-code.com and they gave me a number that was way off and I am still disputing what they charged me. There is a place called gb4x4radios.com that told me over the phone what to do to test the radio. I tested it and yes it needs repair. Here is what I did 1. Leave the IGN key to position 1 giving power to the radio on for as long as it takes to get the "CODE IN" to come up 2. Use the numbers on the radio to enter the code. If it goes back to ---- (4) dashes turn the radio off 3. Hold the BND button in and turn the radio on, if it plays and you hear a beep faintly in the background of the music it is in need of repair. My radio did this
you can send it to two places that I found here in the USA one is GB 4x4 RADIOS he wanted a flat rate of $189 for the repair + $15 shipping and $79 for an AUX plug. I ordered a refurbished radio that comes with the AUX (iPod/Mp3) plug from www.factoryradioservice.com for $200 shipped saving quite a bit of US cash. I will post if it works ! it should be here by 5/24/14. I will be selling my radio on eBay for half what I paid because that is the core value for a used radio and nothing sounds better than the radio that came with the truck. I did not want my daughter driving around with a new spot to drop junk into so I will swap radios when the new one comes. Right now she does the BND power on to listen to music and just does it again when it shuts off. Music keeps her off the side walk

GB4x4Radios used to go under the name Roverville both here and in the UK. I guess it's just another example of Land Rover cracking down on anyone using their name on the web. John may be expensive but his work is among the best when it comes to Rover radios. I'm not familiar with factoryradioservice.com. I hope you're happy with their product.

I gave up trying to figure out how to unlock this radio. I got so many different ways to unlock it that I just gave up trying. The place GB4x4 had the radio and was willing to unlock it for a price. I ended up getting a radio off eBay for about the price of the AUX plug installed by the Roverville guy. I got the new radio for $185 it had the AUX plug installed and was like new. My daughter is very happy now because she can use the steering wheel controls and her IPhone hands free. I am selling the old radio because it worked ok, I think I just had the wrong code or got bad advice on how to unlock it. It plays but just shuts off when it wants to ?? and you have to hold the BND button to turn it on. If anyone has the same problem try factoryradios on eBay.
or if you know how to unlock them mine is for sale on eBay
