Default disco wont start

hey all ok i am in need of suggestions. I have a 97 disco the thing will not start. it will crank and crank but will not fire up. it has fuel the filter is fine and the fuel preasure is good. last week it was stalling and the rpms would go up and down speratically but it would start right back up after it stalled. went over all the ground wires in the engine compartment, cleaned the battery terminals just for good measures. after i did all that it would start up and run fine till a couple days ago when i parked it in the drive way went back out to start it and nothing not even a click, tried again no click nothing the third time it cranked over and over but would fire up. do you guys think it could be the TPS or something else.

I would check the ground cable - as well as the connections to the starter. Although...I suspect primary ground.
I am not sure this would explain your sporadic idling issues, but would the starting issues.

hey guys thanks for the info. I have gone through the every ground under the hood and the dash. I even disconnected all the sensors and any other electrical connection under the hood cleaned them and put them back together. now it starts every time with out hesitation and runs great I ended replacing the wiring going to the TPS becouse it had a crack in the insulating cover now it works good. the only thing i am having problems with now is the tranny cick down cable. not sure the proper term for it, it has comes out but will not retract so the tranny will not shift out of 1st gear till about 3k rpms then it shift really hard into 2nd gear. so i have parked it till i can look at it in depth through the rave manual then hopefully its a quick fix and not something really indepth. wish me luck

Default disco wont start

hey all ok the tranny problem with my disco has been fixed. I drained it and flushed it and refilled it now it runs awsome. well it did for two days, now the gremlin has returned. when your drining down the road around town hear it stalls, when you hold a steady speed then let off the throttle it stalls. it does not spit or spudder or give any warning it just dies. I'm thinking it has to be an electrical issue becouse when it stalls you put it in park and turn the key i didnt get anything not even a lite on the dash. i bumped the center console with my knee by accident and the everything started to work again. it fired right up but as soon as i started to move you let off the throttle it stalls. so when i get tomorow i will pull the console apart and check all those wires but if anyone else has had any issues like this with 97 disco please help this thing is driving me crazy. thanks armyeng P.S. anyone know where i can get a wiring manual for this rig i have looked through the rave but all it says is refer to the wiring manual.
