Default Discovery problem

Hi.I need some help please.I did something really stupid.I replaced the battery on my Discovery 1 in the dark and connected the terminals the wrong way around. Now it does not want to start. The immobilizer light on the dash is not coming on and it doesn't look like it is getting fuel through either.I checked the fuses. What else can I check.

Did you check all the fuses? Under the hood and under the dash(drivers side)?

Does it crank over, but not fire up?

If so, could be the fuel pump relay. What year is your D1? If its 94/95 the fuel pump relay is in the kick panel on the passenger side(I think its the passenger side, check RAVE).

If its 96 or newer its under the hood near the main ECU, black box about 6"X4".

Also, check the inertia switch against the back firewall on the passenger side. Rubber cover on top. Push down on the rubber and see if you hear a click.

My Discovery1 immobilizer needs resetting and I do not know how. How do you use the key to do that?

I was told it can only be done with a remote control (FOB)(and please can someone tell me what F.O.B. means - so many abbreviations for this vehicle I have to understand).

Thanks.

Pleeeaaasssee Mr. Montero, you're killing me..

Keychain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

'The word fob may be linked to the low German dialect for the word Fuppe, meaning "pocket", however, the real origin of the word is uncertain. Fob pockets (meaning 'sneak proof' from the German word Foppen) were pockets meant to deter thieves and a chain was used (called a Fob Chain) to attach to items, like a pocket watch, that you would place in them.'

I do hope you figure out your immobilization issue soon - it's going to be the death of your Rover and me if I keep reading your posts...lol.. (sorry, mustn't laugh as I'd be crying, kicking, swearing and napping a lot if it happened to me). Hopefully Isi can help you out xx

So FOB in ancient Germany meant either pocket, or pocket flap or chain.

In modern American it means "an electronically controlled remote controller by which you can open a door from a distance".

So FOB in this instance is NOT an acronym like all the other SOB PCVs and LREs and ECUs are on the forum? So much to learn...

well we can always just make one up, can't we, Mr. Montero?
FOB.. oh dear.. I don't dare tell you what the definition of FOB is at Urban Dictionary Ok, ok.. I'll let you twist my arm..See below:

'Fob' (Fresh Off the Boat)
- You were not born in America
- You speak your native language fluently and so do all your friends
- Your parents do not speak any English
- When you speak English, you like to make everything plural
- You get extremely good grades in school
- You cannot dance
- Your fashion sense comes from whatever country you're from and you incorporate nothing from American fashion into your wardrobe

Hm.. cannot dance? I don't believe that one..

Isi, It was not meant to hijack the thread - but it seems you can't keep a good girl down...

Please tell me how do I use the vehicle key to reset the immobilizer - my 1995 D1 has been refusing to start now for more than a week.
