Smile Engine Overhaul

Hi,

Im gonig to do some work to the engine and take off the Heads and replace the gaskets, as well as have the fuel injectors cleaned and replace the timing chain. But my question is about the lifters and push rods. Should I change these even if I dont make any modifications to the core of the engine?

My Disco 1 runs well and I dont have any pinging or knocking sound but i wanted to know if I should replace those parts with new ones even if I dont change the crank, or bearings.

Any advice is appreciated.

Doug

I did not and I have 188 K. I cleaned the rocker arm assemblys. If having front cover off, oil pump gears would be nice.

But others have done what you are doing, plus new cam, rockers, and lifters, plus in the truck replacement of main bearings. Look at some of caymandrew's threads.

I think each truck is somewhat unique.
