Freelander 2 Auto Headlamps Question

Am driving a Freelander 2 2010 model, auto headlamps refuse to switch off automatically. Anyone knows why this is so and how to solve it?

auto headlights use a light sensor. if the sensor detects lights it stays on. no light they go off. you can turn the dial to regular lights if you so choose.
