Default Front Turn signal ON even when All is turned of

I have a 1998 Range Rover SE. LOVE it, just bought it.

My right turn signal is staying on even when all lights and the car is off. It drained my battery last night. I took it out so it would not drain it again. I called my shop and they want $135 bucks just to look at it. Has anyone ever heard of this problem?

The only thing different that I did to the truck was remove the front licence plate, and check to see if a tow hitch would fit in my slot.

Anyone out there that could help?

G'day Rover82
If only the right front turn signal lamp is staying on you may have blown a smartFET in the BECM.
Remove the indicator lamp housing and inspect the wires going to the lamp to see if theinsulationhas been rubbed through on the edge of the mudguard (fender) and shorted out. If it has then you have blown the FET.

What "Wires" is referring to is the Body Control Electronic Module --- a rather large electronic component located under the passenger side front seat. It is very expensive to replace, and must be programmed upon replacement by a shop that has a Autologic, RovaComm, or TestBook system. Last one we did ended up costing the customer about $1600 parts and labor.
