Default Fuel Pump issue in '98 disco

Any advice would be wonderful thank you.

My '98 Disco stopped suddenly one day. I could not here the fuel pump running when advancing the key so I 'rapped' the pump module and it started back up again.
I decided to replace the motor. I was told that the 3270 was a good fit however they had none in stock so I replaced with the following:

DPH (Delphi) FE0115 motor.
and
DPH (Delphi) FS0007 strainer /sock

It fit perfectly. Installed fired it up (after checking to here motor running ok). It took a few cranks but it then ran. Now it seems to be sluggish when advancing throttle through 2000 rpm and it sometimes won't start right away after sitting for a period.

Did I put a lower value GPM motor in or is it losing prime?---please help.

Kevin

I would first replace the fuel filter then do a fuel pressure test to confirm if that new motor is adequate for your truck.

32-34 PSI would be expected. Any pix of the work?

And the fuel pressure is? Measure at that "tire valve" sticking out of the injector rail on passenger side. Does it "leak down" quickly after pump switched off? Some owners get around a minor leak or weak pump by "priming" - turn key on, hear pump run, then repeat several times. On final "prime" they actually turn key far enough to crank the truck.
