Default Help!! Intermittent stalling..

Good morning. I am confident a member has insight into a little problem I am having. My wife's '03 Disco II (79K) has begun to randomly die while driving, with no erratic operating conditions prior to failure. To add insult to injury, the automobile will not restart, (but WILL crank healthily), and after a period of time, say 5-60 mins, will restart and operate normally. Typically, 3-5 miles of driving is all the auto will do. I have replaced Air idle control valve, and am at the end of the Noose!?! One side note, approx 2 weeks prior to problem developing wife tried to run vehicle on air, not gas!! Any sage words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated...

That sounds like the crank position sensor. 2 bolts one plug, 10 minute fix.

On another note, does she know that running it out of fuel will drastically shorten the life of the fuel pump?

Yes, it is the crank sensor which is kind of common and fairly inexpensive to replace, about $65 in parts and a hours or so labor depending on who is doing it.
