Default HELP Land rover discovery v8 96 model auto

Hi all,

having an issues with my land rover discovery and my mechanic can not even fix the problem.

Issues well my land rover will not idle correctly, the idle will sometimes go up and down but never higher then 2 revs and has sometimes stalled because the idles go very low. Then randomly will sometimes when you put your foot down will idle very high but have no power.

Now driving it just has no power what so ever, the pick up speed is extremely slow. There is no smoke or knocks or anything from the engine.

My mechanic has no clue.

Any suggestions????

It is real hard to help someone when you have given us no information. What year is it, mileage, octane gas used, last tuned along with wires, fault codes??????????????
Give us some help.

For starters, you say the engine never goes above 2 revs...is that 2RPMs? Cause if it is, that means you are cranking the engine over by hand and not the starter. As spike said, more info needed.

96 had either a 3.9 litre V8 With distributor or a 4.0 without one. If you don't know then look for the cap and wires at the front. if its there then its a 3.9. Depending on the engine and what codes generated it can be confusing if you don;t know what you are doing. If you need give me some info and I can help him out.
