Default help steering box leak

Hello Rover nation I have a 97 disco 120,000 and i have a pin hole leak on the metal hose that is attached to the steering box and it seems like you can only get that metal hose if you buy the hole steering box. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you

An earlier ref here: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e-leaks-39643/

I recently had to replace the return hose on a D2 TD5 as a leak developed. The power steering hoses are prone to leaks starting with a 'pinhole' and progressively getting worse. My hose was at the bottom loop where the tube is aluminium and had abraded against the engine sump which id a very common problem due to the cramped area that everything is crammed into. If you remove the drivers side wheel and the flexible inner mud splash protector you will get a better view of what is going on. You will probably also need to remove the underneath flexible splash guard to enable a total view. The hoses are available on the internet and not too pricey. It is a relatively straightforward job to access and replace them albeit somewhat fiddly and knuckle damaging. Good luck.

Default steering pump leak

hey thanks offroad france for the input. I did replace all three power steering hoses but the leak im talking about is on the all metal line that is only attached to the steering box. this metal line only connects from the side of steering box to top of steering box. If you were to see a pic of a new or rebuilt steering box you can see that metal line on there. Can you have something like that welded?

Hi juiceking17,

Went on the web and found this photo: http://www.mm-4x4.com/ekmps/shops/mm...y-1-1371-p.jpg which shows the offending pipe. I would guess you may be able to get one made up in say a place that make brake pipes or even a used one from a wreckers yard. It looks like a simple pipe, probably high(ish) pressure held in with glands nuts both ends. I'd reckon your best bet would be a brake pipe fabricator which would be high pressure pipework. Good luck
