Default Land Rover Range Rover. Incorrect Diesel fuel Quality

Hi Everyone. New to this site. Have a 2017 Land Rover Range Rover. Diesel Engine. I’m getting a warning of INCORRECT DIESEL EXHAUST FUEL QUALITY. NO MORE ENGINE STARTS IN 163 miles. I drained THE DEF Tank and refilled with fresh DEF fluid. (2.5 gallons) also took off def injector and cleaned. The hole where it sprays fluid was clogged up with the grayish corrosion type stuff. After doing so reinstalled. Drove vehicle for about 40 miles and the error code did not reset. And now shows 120 miles before no restart. Will the code reset itself or do you have to manually reset? And if reset how do I do that. Thanks for any help.

Update:
Drove another 30 miles at higher RPM (sport mode using paddle shifters) and the code cleared finally. I think my DEF quality was okay. The clogged DEF Injector hole I think was definitely the problem. So far all is good.

Morning! Did you ever get your def issue straightened out? I have the same problem and followed the same procedures as you and my quality issue came back.
I'm suspecting the ECU software but trying to track down more info. Thank you!

Once my error cleared it has not came back. I drained my def tank and put new def fluid in it. Plus I took the def injector off, cleaned it and the hole where it mounts that it sprays def into. The hole was completely clogged with gray looking corrosion type substance. I unclogged the hole and then took a damp rag and finished cleaning it till all the corrosion was gone. It took some driving to get the error code to clear but once it did no further issues. If you did both of these procedures, your code actually cleared, and then came back later I would make sure the def you are using is good quality and the hole is completely unclogged. Next would be the def injector itself being bad but if your error code cleared I wouldn’t think that would be the case. How long was it before the code reappeared?

Thank you so much for replying back!!! It took about 120mi before the code returned. But.... When I cleared it the first time I had only cleaned the injector and injector inlet. Yesterday I cleaned everything again but also drained the def tank and poured in 2.5gal of blue def platinum. I used this prior to this code as well. The iso is 22241 and it's the same rating as adblue so I'd figure it's comparable.
I'm trying to nail down the whole PCM flash that fixed this. I'm afraid a recent key fob addition has reverted the original files on the PCM. My dealer mentioned having to flash the PCM when they added the fob. I'll post a pic of my current PCM version. Is there anyway you can look at your version?

Ty again so very much for replying and assisting!

Actually I don’t have a reading of my PCM. I didn’t have a way of getting it without taking to dealer. Which I only do if I absolutely have to. I don’t personally own a scanner. However what you are saying could absolutely be correct. If the flash your PCM for a new fob it could have reverted back to the original program. Several have said they had a software update done by the dealer that did away with the def quality code. I bought my Land Rover used at 35,000 miles so I’m not sure if it was updated before I bought it. I personally have not had it updated. I think the update simply makes it less sensitive to the def quality error code. I will add that many have said when they switched to the blue def PLATINUM their issues started with the def quality code error. I use Blue Def but not the platinum brand. I personally don’t think it would matter but just wanted to throw that in there. Def will go bad if not stored correctly or inventory is rotated properly. I do know that for certain.

Wow thank you for pointing that out! I had no idea that the platinum would be a prob! Guess the marketing got me! Ha! Well if it comes up again I'll try a different def. Ty again!

No problem. As I said I don’t personally think it would matter but just worth mentioning. Hopefully you are good to go since you redone everything. Keep me posted if you still have issues.
