Default Location of Disco II engine serial number

I'm trying to find the location of the serial number on the engine block for my 02 Disco II. I am told it has the format xxDxxxxx where the x's are numbers. I couldn't find anything like that on the block, all I could find was this:

Hoping one of you could help.

What are you needing the number for? Just curious and can't remember the location of the number either.

Thanks for responding Mike.

I need some new cylinder heads, but I am told there were a few different ones in 02.

I'm told there's the 94D engine series and the 97D engine series, and then they're different before and after engine # 05503A. (using hollander interchange)

Apparently the engine was changed mid-way through 02, and the older style 99-02 disco & 96-02 range rover. Newer style fits 02-04 Disco II and some 01's.

I'm also curious just to know where it is just for future reference.

I believe the only difference was if you have SAI on your truck, that should be the only issue for you.

Yes, there's SAI on my Disco II. However, Hollander is usually trusted software when it comes to compatibility, and they say there were two types of heads w/ secondary air injection:

(1) fits
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 01-02 w/secondary air injection, 94D eng series, thru eng #00000A
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 01-02 w/secondary air injection, 97D eng series, thru eng #05503A
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 99-00 w/secondary air injection
RANGE ROVER 96-02 w/secondary air inject sys

(2) fits
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 01-02 w/secondary air injection, 94D eng series, from eng #00001A
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 01-02 w/secondary air injection, 97D eng series, from eng #05504A
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 03-04 (Discovery), w/secondary air injection

I'm just hoping to find the engine serial # to figure out if I have type 1 or type 2. Unless you know for a fact that they are interchangeable.

try looking around your dipstick probably behind the manifold. Thanx to the RAVE manual on my desktop.
