Default manual or auto

in your opinion witch tranny is better for off roading?auto/manual

Auto - so you can keep both hands on the wheel and control the approximate direction of the vehicle... Manual - so fewer things to overheat and break. Cheap - reliable - quick - please select any two. And keep in mind that some of the best fun with a Rover is when it is sitting still.

Auto for 96% of all wheeling, manual for that 4% of the really hard core wheelers.

Auto hands down.
The only good a manual is for offroading is using the starter to bump the truck forward/backward without running the engine or rolling it down a hill and popping the clutch to start it if the battery went dead, but if you bring a jump box thats a non issue anyway.
Even the Army uses auto transmissions now because they are so reliable.
