Default Misfire after new injectors. Please help

Hi There,

New to the forum and to Land Rovers.

About a year ago I bought a Discovery 4 (2016 3.0 SDV6).

A week ago it went into limp mode, lost power and was shaking quite badly, this was whilst idling and accelerating with some white smoke and a terrible smell.

I had the vehicle recovered to a local garage and they said that injector 2 needed replacing. They fitted a brand new injector but said they could not code it for some reason but it should be fine as it’s a brand new Bosch injector.

I drove away and within an hour the fault returned. I called the recovery company again who sent a mechanic and said that the fault code was reading cylinder 3 misfire. I’ve now also had this replaced with a brand new injector from another garage who’ve also said they can’t code the new injector and the problem is still there.

I’ve had it looked at by a LR specialist who is suggesting it might be a rocker arm but can’t understand why the injectors are not coding. He has full LR software too.

The codes he’s given me are;

Engine control - 7M9 / Diesel EDC 17CP11.2P0204 - Injector cylinder 4. Error Message : Malfunction.P0202 - Injector cylinder 2. Error Message : Malfunction.P0303 - Cylinder 3: Misfiring detection. Error Message : Malfunction.Cylinder 3

I’m not mechanically inclined at all, rather than spending money I don’t need to spend, I’m hoping for some guidance on this.

Many thanks all.

Arvind.
