Cleaned rotor and cap thoroughly. Retested and still getting spark on rotor. seems not to be as bad as it was but still frequent spark. Reinstalled cap and tried to fire her up again..no go...not surprising but just in case. Picking up rotor at 4:30 today.

I love the URLs , but it does make me sad that it is completely lost on most of the members on this forum. Specific to D1s.

Im not sure where the heck Scouts came from but I don't think he learned the Land Rover trade from being a SF guy....either way I am eternally grateful and will try and return the favor in the future to the forum...assuming there are any D1 owners still around in the states...now can we please figure out the rotor grounding?

So the new rotor did not help? And new coil? Are you getting spark? Like scout said plugs can be flooded at this point

I'll tell ya, I didn't learn the LR trade from anyone but myself before the interweb ever came about. I owned a Heep CJ7 and not one but two early Scouts (80 and 800B). They taught me everything I ever wanted to hate about distributor ignition systems and the LR system is no exception. Dizzyless is the way to go by FAR! You could get rid of the that thing and config a MegaSquirt in less time than it takes to figure out what isn't working with your current setup. I just spent 3 hours setting up an antique 09 AT&T non-smart phone on Net10 and it still took less time to get the web working and setup proper email not tied to AT$T's net than futzing around with a distributor that belongs in Brit museum.

I really was going to ask about conversion from this nightmare but thought it would be yet another reckless venture.....please please please tell me how...I have a week up here and would love to do it.
You know my commitment to the truck...just not the ignition system...
